The Turkey Day Throwdown crowned two winners: Sean Sanders, Marco Marchinni and Catie Marchinni in the scaled division; and Mark Gonzales, Matt Tafoya and Jazz Herrera in the RX’d division.
Participants competed in teams of three, racing against the clock in three exercises. The workouts included:
• five minutes of burpees, kettle bell swings and air dyne (think: stationary bike);
• max weight in the clean-and-jerk with a 10-minute time limit;
• and 100-meter runs with a 20-pound medicine ball, hand-release pushups and wall balls in eight minutes.
The competition followed Excel’s Barbell for Boobs event, which raised more than $17,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness and Mammograms in Action.
