Now here’s something to howl about: A Bark-toberfest.

The pet fair and doggie costume contest takes place Sunday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Library Park in downtown as a benefit for the Manteca Police K9 unit.

You can pamper your pooch while shopping pet-related vendors, enjoying K9 demonstrations, have a chance to win raffle prizes and strut your mutt in a dog show.

Miss Teen Manteca 2009 Victoria Watson came up with the idea and is organizing the event. All proceeds benefit the Manteca Police K9 Association.

Vendor space and costume parade entries are still available.

Vendors are $25 in advance or $40 on the day of the event while the doggie parade is $10 in advance or $15 on Saturday.
