Breakfast, brunch for struggling families

Three meals – two complete with gifts for kids – are taking place today to make sure struggling families have a Christmas celebration.

• Manteca Ford on North Main Street will host its annual free Christmas Eve Breakfast today from 8 to 11 a.m. The first 500 children 12 and under will receive an unwrapped toy and will have an opportunity to meet Santa. Nulaid Eggs in Ripon donated all the eggs. Starbucks, Foster Farms, Save Mart, McDonalds, Costco, Chez Shari, Party Warehouse in Tracy, Walgreens and Economy Signs are all contributing to the event.

• The Manteca Police Officers Association is serving lunch to the homeless at Library Park at noon today.

• The Place of Refuge congregation is staging a complete Christmas Eve brunch complete with gifts for kids today at 1 p.m. at the Place of Refuge, 486 Button Ave.
