LATHROP - The body of a man believed to be the 69-year-old Lathrop man missing from his home for nearly two weeks was reportedly located by authorities Saturday less than 100 yards from where cadaver dogs alerted to a scent Friday morning.

The search dogs under the direction of private investigator Josh Lee of American Justice Investigations of Manteca had separately detected the evidence near a stand of trees at the edge of the San Joaquin River about a half mile from the man’s Lathrop home just west of Brookhurst and West Louise Avenue.

Calls to the Sheriff’s Department were not returned at press time Sunday; however it was reported by a source close to the investigation that the body had not been yet identified by family members of the missing Jarnail Singh. Identification was expected to be confirmed on Monday.

Singh was last seen on Monday, February 27, when he left his home and went for a walk, according to relatives.
