Armed with a shotgun and a black revolver, four men – one wearing a ski mask and three wearing red bandanas over their faces – robbed the Manteca Liquors on East Yosemite Avenue just west of Austin Road at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Manteca Police public information officer Jason Hensley said the men took an undisclosed amount of cash and bottles of liquor before exiting the store.  He added that the clerk did the right thing in not trying to stop the four robbers.

Hensley credited the clerk with staying inside the business and not going out the front door to get the direction of travel of the getaway vehicle,  adding that the red face coverings suggested that the crime was possibly gang related.

The Manteca Police Department is looking for the public’s help in identifying the responsibles in the robbery.  Anyone having information in the case is urged to contact the Manteca Police Department at 456-8101 or call Crime Stoppers at 823-INF0.  A reward of up to $1,000 is available and callers will remain anonymous.
