Three men were allegedly caught red handed removing property from a home on Daniels Street Tuesday evening.
Lance Carlson, 28, Lester Dias, 25,and Domonique Angel, 39, were all charged with residential burglary, motor vehicle theft and possession of stolen property, Manteca police said.
The men were first seen by witnesses about 12:30 p.m. entering the home that has been vacant since January. It was reportedly sold at auction in early May. However personal property had remained in the home, the garage and a tool shed in the rear of the property.
The three were quoted as saying the real estate agent, Jim Perez, had hired them to clean out the residence, however the agent told police that was not true. Carlson reportedly lives in the neighborhood just around the corner.
After taking a lawn mower, fishing rods and a washing machine at noon they returned at about 6 p.m. to load up their truck with a television, a motorized mini-bike, and three bicycles and other small items.
Police officers arrived on the scene as they were loading their truck and arrested them on burglary charges as well as the theft of a motor vehicle. Neighbors said the family had moved to Houston, Texas earlier in the year.
The men were transported to San Joaquin County Jail; however it was unknown whether they were going to be released on citations because of jail overcrowding.
