Mutual aid from a Sheriff’s canine officer and his dog brought an end to what started as a domestic violence dispute in the 500 block of Michigan Avenue Thursday morning with a parolee-at-large attempting to hide under the house. When officers first arrived on the scene some 10 days ago, the male subject retreated out the back door of the house and officers were unable to locate him who they identified as Steve Gier, 37, of Manteca. It was discovered that he had a parole hold in the system.Shortly after 9:30 Thursday morning officers were again called to the Michigan Avenue home in an attempt to contact Gier. A perimeter was established around the residence and officer spotted the suspect in the garage as he started to run out into the back yard but instead stepped into the residence.Believing the parolee was possibly barricading himself in his home, Manteca officers requested K-9 support from the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department.
