STOCKTON — A sports and health science academy is coming soon to the San Joaquin County Office of Education.
On Monday, Excel Academy, the only collegiate and health science academy in San Joaquin County, is having an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. at the SJCOE complex, 2720 Transworld Drive, Stockton.
A presentation is scheduled for 4:45. Parents and sixth- through 11th- grade students along with health fitness enthusiasts are encouraged to attend.
Plans call for Excel Academy to open in August 2012.
This sports and health science college prep school will be open to incoming seventh- through 12th- grade students. They’ll have a chance at an education using non-traditional thematic approach to learning.
According to SJCOE, Excel Academy is a college prep school that “integrates sports with high academic standards focusing on college and career readiness.”
