The Magna Terra neighborhood, bordered by Cottage Avenue on the west and North Street on the south and just north of Doctors Hospital, is steeped in fear today following a Thursday morning home invasion robbery.

Neighbors have said they have readied themselves in case the same should happen to them in coming days learning the thieves had entered through a side garage access door.

Police confirmed Friday morning that five masked young adult gunmen forced their way into the home of a retired couple in their early 60s in the 300 block of Shepherd Way and held them at gunpoint.  One gunman reportedly put the muzzle of his gun in the homeowner’s mouth demanding cooperation from him and his wife.

Stolen were electronic office equipment and other devices used in the home and an array of jewelry.  Also taken was a 2006 Grey Jeep Cherokee from the garage.  Detectives were interviewing the couple late Friday morning in their home and are expected to issue a formal press release later in the day today.
