The Second Harvest Food Bank Chili Cook-Off takes place Saturday, Aug. 10, at the MRPS Hall.

A maximum of 20 cooks will be competing for cash prizes, according to CEO Mike Mallory.

The chili station setup begins at 3 p.m. and the doors will open at 5 for the event with the food bank still needing more chili chefs to prove their abilities. Second Harvest is also in need of additional raffle prizes and sponsors with tickets now on sale at their office at 704 E. Industrial Park Dr., Manteca Industrial Park.  Interested participants are asked to complete and submit a registration form along with a $30 entry fee by the July 31 deadline.

Cash prizes offered range from $300 for first place down to $75 for third place.  The “People’s Choice” award amounts to $100.  The chili station, with the most festive and creative decorations, will also be presented with a prize in the “Hottest Table” contest.
