Three of the garage sales being held Saturday in Manteca are being done for love.That’s love as in Love In the Name of Christ, a faith-based non-profit organization in Manteca which is ministering to the needy in the local area.The three homeowners who have stepped up to the plate when Love INC sent out word that it’s looking for partners in the community to raise money for the program are hosting the garage sales and will be donating a percentage of their proceeds to the philanthropic group.“The money raised will be used in the various ‘ministries’ that Love INC does in the Manteca area,” said Raschelle Mullette who is helping coordinate the effort which is being held for the second year in a row.The three garage sale sites in Manteca which will be open starting at 8 a.m. (closing time has not been determined as of press time) are at the following locations:• 1122 Marguerite Place• 241 ½ North Grant Street, and,• 1774 Fleabane Lane.This past Saturday, volunteers with Crossroads Grace Community Church’s 2nd Saturday Outreach program helped pick up donations for the garage sale. Crossroads is a “partner church” of Love INC. Pastor Jim Todd of Crossroads coordinates 2nd Saturday and is also the current chairman and president of Love INC’s board.Figures from 2010 show that Love INC received in excess of 1,500 requests for various types of assistance during that period. Out of that number, Love INC was able to provide assistance to about 1,200 of those requests.
