Sorry Ronald, but Jared is about to ace you out.

Work has started on Manteca’s fifth Subway sandwich shop that is opening in the coming months in The Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley across from Red Robin Gourmet Burgers.

Subway had been in the lead in terms of the Manteca fast food proliferation derby until McDonald’s opened their fourth Manteca location earlier this year inside the gas station that is part of the shopping center on the northeast corner of Lathrop Road and Union Road that’s anchored by CVS Drugs Store.

Subway may not be out in front for long, though. A deal is in the works that would bring Manteca its fifth McDonald’s on the northeast corner of Airport Way and Daniels Street. That is the same location where Walgreens may even the score with Rite Aid and CVS Drugs and build their second Manteca store.

Manteca is getting more and more duplications in food services.

Starbucks is tied with McDonald’s with four stores. That is followed by Jack-in-the-Box with three locations and Carl’s Jr. with two stores. There are also ventures with two locations including Taco Bell, Baskin-Robins, and Jamba Juice.

Manteca will soon add additional food options that won’t simply be a repeat of what is already here.

This spring Buffalo Wings and Rings will open immediately to the west of the Red Robin Gourmet Burgers restaurant at Orchard Valley.

The bar and grill sports restaurant has locations in Modesto, Rancho Cucamonga, and Elk Grove. The Cincinnati-based chain also has restaurants as well in 13 others states including New York, Florida, Texas, Illinois and Arizona.

The menu includes soups, salads, starters, wings and tenders, gyros, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, ribs, and desserts. They also offer an express lunch menu.

Two other eating establishments besides Buffalo Wings & Rings as well as Subway  have submitted tenant improvement plans for the line of buildings immediately west of the Kerasotes Showplace Theatre and across from Red Robin. They are Matsui Sushi and a yogurt shop. In addition a nail salon is opening up next to the Manteca Visitors Center around the corner on Grove Street.

Craig Realty, which is securing tenants for the portion of Orchard Valley that is being dedicated to the Lifestyle Outlets at Manteca, has firms signed but is being tight-lipped. The first stores are expected to open later this spring.

Ultimately there will be up to 46 outlet stores at the complex.

There is space for three more food orientated businesses near Red Robin.

There are also three other free standing pads for sit-down restaurants in the southwest corner of the lifestyle center generally south of JC Penney.
