The first-ever Toys for Tots Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Nov.  23.

But this special event is not exclusively limited to golfers, according to Karl Knutsen of the East Union High Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp.

The Lancer Battalion advisor noted that the Transportation Service Company of the US Marines from the nearby Defense Depot San Joaquin Sharpe will be on hand to accept new and unwrapped toys at the entrance of the Manteca Park Golf Course, 305 N. Union Road, Manteca.

“We will be graced by a member of the Combat Logistic Battalion 23rd who will accept any and all donations to a worthy cause,” Knutsen said.

Cost for the four-man team scramble tournament is $80 per person plus a new, unwrapped toy.

“As a thank you to each participant will receive a golf bag full of goodies,” said Knutsen.

Participants will also have a chance to win valuable prizes such as car donated by Chase Chevrolet or a complete set of golf clubs from Roger Dunn’s. But order to do so they’ll need to sink a hole-in-one at one of the specific holes.

Other prizes include the 50/50 cash split on the closest to the pin and a three-day free car rental from Enterprise on the longest drive.

Tee time at the Manteca course is 8 a.m.

Lunch consisting of a chicken or pork loin coupled with golf cart and range balls are also included.

Check, cash or money orders may be sent to: Ray J. Bael, 3040 W. Alpine Ave., Stockton CA, 95204.
