The Manteca Mural Society is seeking input from World War II veterans, their families, and others to set the perimeters for an artists’ competition to select the design for the next mural.

A gathering to brainstorm ideas and what should possibly be shown in the mural takes place today  at 2 p.m. at the Manteca Transit Center on Moffat Boulevard at South Main  Street.

The mural honoring World War II veterans is next in the series of five murals that ultimately will grace the wall of the Manteca Bedquarters facing Main Street in downtown Manteca.

Once the information is put together, several muralists will be selected from various applications to devise conceptual renderings. From there a final design will be selected.

The society is in the process of raising the $25,000 it will take to complete the mural.

Donations for the World War II mural may be dropped off at Raymus Homes: The Next Generation, 250 Cherry Lane, Suite 116, Manteca, CA 95336 or mailed to P.O. Box 2188, Manteca, CA 95336. Prospective donors may also call 823-1474 and Mural Society members can make arrangements to have the donations picked up at the donors’ convenience.
