STOCKTON — The 2014 Neighbors in Health community health fair presented by Kaiser Permanente will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds.

The free health fair will feature an enhanced focus on providing prevention, wellness, and educational information. Several community partners are co-sponsoring the health fair, including the Tzu Chi Foundation, which will provide dental screenings and services.

Other services include school and sports physicals, cholesterol and glucose screenings, blood pressure screenings, vision screenings and eyeglass adjustments, BMI/body composition measurements, mammogram appointments, and healthy cooking demonstrations.

“While the Affordable Care Act helped many in our communities get health coverage, there still are many more individuals and families who need the services that are provided at Neighbors in Health,” said Elizabeth Kass, MD, Kaiser Permanente Assistant Physician in Chief for Health Promotion and Innovation in the Central Valley. “Our physicians and staff have given their time and expertise at this event for the past 17 years, and we look forward to having their continued support, alongside our community partners, at this year’s event in Stockton.”

Neighbors in Health will feature a “neighborhood” theme at the fairgrounds location. As guests stroll through the neighborhood, they will encounter different areas and services related to a specific health topic. For example, the neighborhood “school” will offer school physicals and children’s activities, the “library” will feature health education, and more.

The San Joaquin County Fairgrounds is located at 1658 South Airport Way, Stockton. For more information about Neighbors in Health, please call (209) 476.3340, or click on: www.kp.org/centralvalley.
