Library town halls set in South County cities

What are the immediate and long-term library needs of Lathrop, Manteca, and Ripon?

Residents in all three communities will have a chance to provide input at a series of town hall meetings starting tonight.

The first  town hall meeting is at the Lathrop Senior Center, 15707 Fifth Street in Valverde Park next to the Lathrop Community Center. It will start at 6 o’clock tonight.

The meeting is part of a series of town hall meetings being sponsored by the Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library. These meetings are part of the process involved in the public library system’s effort to develop a “comprehensive strategic plan for library operations.”

All ideas and suggestions gathered at these meeting will be used to assist the library in crafting “strategic priorities for immediate and long-term future.”

Similar town hall meetings will be held in various cities as well including Manteca and Ripon. In Manteca, it will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, starting at 2 p.m. in the Manteca Branch Library, 320 W. Center Street. In Ripon, the meeting will be held in the Ripon Branch Library, 333 W. Main Street, starting at 6 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 13.

Lathrop has a branch library located on the ground floor of the two-story building at 15461 Seventh Street two doors north of the Lathrop Post Office. A new library facility is currently being constructed in West Lathrop next to Lathrop High School as part of the Lathrop Generations Center.
