Calla High’s commencement exercise was once again had its share of success stories.
First-year Principal Dan Beukelman acknowledged just that as 112 students from his graduating Class of 2018 fulfilled a major milestone by finally receiving their diplomas via a road less traveled.
The May 18 special event was held at Calvary Community Church.
The Sierra High Jazz Band under the direction of Rick Hammarstrom performed the processional “Pomp and Circumstance” along with the National Anthem and the Recessional.
Student speaker Kalani Garcia proudly shared her story with those in attendance at the Manteca Unified alternative education ceremony. Included were classmates, teachers, faculty and the various families and friends.
District Superintendent Jason Messer – he announced not too long ago that he’s stepping down from the post – provided the acceptance speech on behalf of the graduating class.
