There’s a new dining spot open in Manteca.
No, it’s not the fifth McDonald’s or the second Chipotle’s, although those are on the way to the southwest corner of Atherton Drive and Main Street.
The new option is 88 BaoBao.
The gourmet dim sum restaurant is now open in Manteca Crossing on the northwest corner of Atherton Drive and Airport Way near the Maverik gas station that opened last month.
88 BaoBao offers everything from classics and hand-pulled noodles to crispy spring rolls.
The restaurant started in 2018 in Dublin. The Manteca store is their third location in the Northern San Joaquin Valley. The others are in Merced and Stockton with a fourth opening soon in Riverbank.

Police Foundation
The Manteca Police Foundation treated 120 youth from struggling families to shopping sprees of $100 plus Saturday at Walmart.
That is in addition to $50 gift cards for supermarkets given to each child for their family’s use thanks to the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Greater Valley.
The foundation, led by Police Chief Stephen Schluer, had help from off-duty officers, former Police Chief Nick Obligacion, Mayor Gary Singh, Councilwoman Regina Lackey, plus Councilmen Dave Breitenbucher and Charlie Halford (also a former police chief) and other volunteers to assist with the shopping.
Mark Oct. 10, 2026 for
the next farm to table
The inaugural “Rooted in Community” farm to fork event in October on Maple Street was a runaway success with people who missed the chance eager to buy a ticket next year.
The 2026 date is Oct. 10.
Organizers originally anticipated 150 tickets being sold. The final count was 220.
The event raised $20,000 for distribution to Manteca area non-profits through the United Way of San Joaquin.
Among the recipients of funding were the Boys & Girls Club, HOPE Ministries (homeless shelters), Downtown Manteca Improvement Association, Child Abuse Council, and others.
