ripon crime chart

Almost all felony crime in Ripon in 2025 was down from 2024 as well as a decade ago.

Annual crime in a 2016 to 2025 comparison has dropped from:

*9 robberies in 2016 to 5 last year.

*10 residential burglaries in 2016 to 4 last year.

*225 thefts in 2016 to 76 last year.

*44 retail thefts in 2016 to 27 last year.

*21 stolen vehicles in 2016 to 5 last year.

Burglary went from 22 in 2016 to 23 last year.

Ripon had no homicides in the past decade.

The data is gleaned from the just released Ripon Police Department 10-year Crime Overview.

During the same 10-year period, Ripon went from 14,606 residents to 15,753 residents.

Included in the report are the types of crimes that most impacted the safety of the community. Those are felonies as opposed to misdemeanors.

Reports of theft – described in the California Penal Code as “taking property with the intent to permanently deprive the owner of it” – topped the list for 2025. Those numbers (76) have continued to show a decreased rate, with a total of 225 in 2016 being the high mark of the past decade.

The Ripon police report also consisted of such crimes as robbery (5), burglary (23), and residential burglary (4) – all consistently low numbers from over the years.

There were no reports of homicides during the span of this report.

Meanwhile, retail theft (27) and stolen vehicles (5) hit an all-time low in 2025.

In 2024, those numbers were up – the figures for retail theft (55) equaled that of 2019, an all-time high, while stolen vehicles (8) were still better than 2020’s stolen vehicles (26) reported in Ripon.

‘Our officers remain committed to the department’s proactive policing philosophy (of) focusing on prevention, community engagement, and maintaining Ripon’s reputation as one of the safest cities in California,” said Ripon police on Tuesday.

In addition, they provided a link to monitoring crime statistics and activity.
