The 46th annual Holiday Affair hosted by the Manteca Soroptimists was the place to be Wednesday at the Bank of Stockton.
According to organizers, about 300 were there for the fundraising event that makes possible scholarships to local graduation high school seniors.
The Manteca chapter of Soroptimists International awards 10 to 12 such scholarships each year including two – the program is called “Live Your Dream” – to those women going back to school as adults to help their families.
They are support suicide prevention counseling through the Manteca Unified School District as well as other community endeavors.
Soroptimist members were once again thrilled to see the community come together for this enchanting holiday tradition.
“The Holiday Affair stands as a testament to the community of Manteca’s generosity – thanks to everyone’s support,” said Tedra Torrice.
She added that Soroptimist International of Manteca continues its mission to provide educational scholarships that “uplift and empower” local young women.
The Holiday Affair started back in 1980 and continues to serve as one of big fundraising events come this time of the year.
Many of the who’s who were in attendance, including current and former local leaders of the community.
“It was wonderful catching up with so many friends who attend this annual gala, raising money that they give out annually,” said Steve DeBrum. “Kudos to another Manteca non-profit.”
