6 gardens focus of 2020 Manteca garden tour

Six of the best private residential gardens will be featured in the 2020 Manteca Garden Tour.

The club's only major fund-raiser during the year will be held Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets will be available at various Manteca business, and from club members.

Scholarships for Manteca Unified high school graduates going to college and many beautification city projects, and caring for the roses at the Senior Center are among the beneficiaries of the garden tour proceeds. Funds are also used to donate trees to the city in area neighborhood parks during Arbor Day.

The locations of the featured gardens have been announced and will include a property in the country, in the Del Webb community, and other parts of the city. Among the attractions include a pool with "lots of palms" and "closed-in patio," waterslider, an Italian home, plus a country house and a "culture house."

Leading up to the announcement of the featured gardens was the selection of the winner of the 2020 garden tour art contest. The winning art of Manteca Unified School District student Anne Reynolds will be featured in the banners and posters announcing the tour, as well as in the brochures and tickets that will be distributed to the tour guests, Reynolds' original art work will be offered as the door prize at the reception following the tour. Her submission, which earned her a $150 prize from the garden club, was selected from a total of 20 entries submitted.
