Making the streets of Manteca safer — including several “little projects” — are part of the public works priorities for streets in the fiscal year starting July 1.

The planned work includes:

*Adding infill street lighting in the 500 block of West Yosemite west of the downtown train tracks and the 1800 block of West Yosemite near Kaiser Hospital to improve visibility.

*Sidewalk infill projects in the 200, 300, and 400 blocks of North Maple Avenue.

*Enhancing the lighting at the Manteca Civic Center.

*Citywide striping enhancement for pedestrian safety.

*Sidewalk replacement along Union Road.

*Repairing transverse and longitudinal cracks in street pavement citywide.

*Completion of the streets yard expansion.

*Continuing speed lump installations citywide to slow down traffic to improve safety and the quality of life in neighborhoods,

*Installation of three additional traffic cameras at the intersections of Main and Moffat, Main and Wetmore, as well as Yosemite and Spreckels to monitor pedestrian and traffic movements to help enhance traffic flow and safety.
