Nearly 100 earn their diplomas

Sandra Suzuki spent all 25 years as a teacher at Calla High.

At the May 14 commencement ceremony, she was recognized for her years of service at the Manteca Unified alternative education site.

Principal Michele Bryson was thrilled to see the retiring Suzuki receive a standing ovation at the special event honoring the Class of 2025.

Graduation at Calla High was held at Delta College’s Atherton Auditorium, with close to 100 students being honored that evening.

Some received senior awards in Algebra Robotics (Thomas Rice), Art (Elena Rodriguez), English (Jadah Harris), Leadership / Yearbook (Melissa Oregel), Math (Kaylani Zuniga), Physical Education (Anthony Brown), Science (Auriah Oyler), Service (Opal Marie Starkey), Social Science (Tamayah Valentine), and Student Athlete (Casey Sieg).

Scholarships went to Joshua Juarez Romero (Manteca Children’s Scholarship), Kaylani Zuniga (Manteca Sunrise Kiwanis), and Elena Rodriguez (American Red Cross).

Graduation week continues at MUSD with Lathrop High and Sierra High on Thursday.

Students at Lathrop High will be recognized that day at the University of the Pacific as renovation are taking currently place at the on-campus Bennie Gatto Field at Paul Wiggin Stadium.

Manteca High, East Union High, and Weston Ranch High students will celebrate their graduation ceremonies on Friday, beginning at 7 p.m.
