Hot rods, classics, and muscle cars were once again on display.
Many of the vehicles at Friday’s annual Classic Car Show at Manteca Assisted Living – formerly Prestige Senior Living at Manteca – belonged to that of the Central Valley Early Irons Club.
“We had over 30 cars (from Central Valley Early Irons Club) here,” said club member James Snow.
He brought along his blue 1967 Chevelle sedan that he saw being sold online in Pennsylvania about three years ago.
Snow purchased the out-of-state car and later changed out the motor along with a few other parts in need of repair.
The Central Valley Early Irons Club – originally called the Nuts & Bolts of Manteca – was founded about 25 years ago to locals who breathed hot rods, classics and muscle cars.
Snow indicated that those interested can join by simply attending the car club’s Wednesday breakfast gatherings at the Veterans of Foreign Wars / Post 6311, 580 Moffat Blvd., beginning at 8 a.m.
“We believe in giving back to the community,” he said.
Elizabeth Ramirez, for one, is thankful for that.
She’s the Director of Sales & Marketing for Manteca Assisted Living & Memory, which is part of PACS Healthcare Elevated. The change in management for the retirement and assisted living facility at 1130 Empire Ave. became effective Aug. 1, 2024.
Ramirez received plenty of support from those who work and reside at Manteca Assisted Living as well as locals in the community and, of course, the car club.
She credits advertising for making this event fun for everyone – the non-car club lovers also enjoyed spending the day with friends, family, and neighbors, partaking of food, whiskey tasting, and entertainment.
“Getting the word out in the newspaper and social media helped,” said Ramirez.
