Don Jaramillo installs the first batch of commemorative bricks near the entrance to the Legion Hall.

The first commemorative bricks were installed this week on the plaza in front of American Legion Post 249 at 220 Yosemite Ave. in downtown Manteca.

The post has sold 88 bricks so far at $200 each to be placed in the outdoor entrance plaza to the hall in a bid to raise funds for ongoing maintenance of the hall.

Each brick has three lines with each line having up to 15 characters.

Bricks do not have to honor specific veterans. They could, for example, carry a company’s name with a message thanking veterans.

Brick sales are at about the halfway mark.

For more information on the bricks, contact George Terry at (209) 823-5665 or Richard Silverman at (209) 923-3354.
