Indoor event Saturday at Senior Center

If you like checking out garage sales but Saturday’s projected high of 105 degrees is too much for you, swing by the air conditioned Manteca Senior Center for the annual Indoor Flea Market.

It takes place from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the senior center, 295 Cherry Lane. Admission is free.

There will be more than 40 individual vendor booths offering used and new items including kitchenware, household items, antiques, tools, jewelry, plants, home decor, clothing, glassware, toys, dolls, baby items and craft items. The snack bar will be open.  

Places to cool off

The City of Manteca offers two ways for kids to cool off.

The free interactive water play feature at Library Park in downtown Manteca is operable on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from noon to 7:30 p.m. starting May 25 and ending Sept. 3.

The Lincoln Pool is open for summer public swimming through Aug. 4. The hours are 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. as well as Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. August weekend hours are noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 10-11, Aug. 17-18 and Aug. 24-25.  Lincoln Pool is located on Powers Avenue across from the fire station south of East Yosemite Avenue and behind Lincoln School.

Children 4 and under are free while youth 14 to 17 are $2, adults 18 to 61 are $3 and seniors 62 and up are $2.  


Movies in the Park tonight

The Manteca Parks & Recreation Department presents the second free film in the summer Movies in the Park series this evening

The family-orientated event includes snack vendors, food trucks, as well as information booths form various organizations starts at 7 p.m. The featured movie “Hotel Transylvania 3” starts at dusk. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.

Food trucks and snack vendors include Tonantzin Taco Truck, Cupcake Lady. Craftique/Glitter Cotton Candy, Star Frutas Truck, Aloha Counter Food Truck, La Amargadas Lemonade Truck, Camino Dogs, and Rita’s Italian Ice & Custard Truck.

Community organizations scheduled to be in attendance are About Face (face painting), Boys & Girls Clubs, Manteca Library, Manteca Raiders, Funtastic Gymnastics, Primerica, Manteca Unified Nutrition Services, Wellness Center of San Joaquin, Manteca Youth Focus, Rising Sun Center of Opportunity and Health Plan of San Joaquin.

The third and final movie is “Space Jam”. It will be presented with a similar format on Friday, Aug. 23, at Northgate Park.
