The Ripon Consolidated Fire District will be conducting a promotion and swearing-in ceremony on Monday, April 29.

Highlighting the special event is Eric DeHart, who was recently announced as the new fire chief.

The promotion and swearing-in ceremony will be held at Ripon Fire Station 2-1, 142 S. Stockton Ave., beginning at 3 p.m.

DeHart is taking over from longtime fire Chief Dennis Bitters, who is retiring at the end of the month following 42 years of distinguished service.

DeHart was previously served as fire chief for the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire District.

The local fire department will also recognize fire engineers’ Chad Cheek and Brian Pratt as well as firefighters’ Marcus Rivas and Tyler Dunn during the promotion exercises.

“Come to Station 2-1 and be part of the excitement as we honor these dedicated individuals who risk their lives to keep our community safe,” said Ripon Consolidated Fire District via social media post.
