CELEBRATE FOURTH WITH AX THROWING PLUS MORE
Massive family friendly event planned by YupUp, City of Manteca at Big League Dreams complex

Ax throwing, similar to what is shown, is included in the $35 adult admission to the Fourth of July celebration planned at the Big League Dreams sports complex.

Celebrate the Fourth of July this year with everything from inflatable obstacle courses for kids to ax throwing for adults at the Manteca Big League Dreams Sports complex.

That’s one of dozens upon dozens of activities planned by YupUp — a mobile app with local deals — in partnership with the City of Manteca.

It takes place from 3 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 4. It will be followed by the city’s aerial fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.

Admission is $35 for adults. There is a promotion YupUp is offering through Sunday, June 1, where the purchase of one adult ticket includes a child’s ticket at no additional cost.

“It’s designed for the entire family to enjoy,” said Francesca Garcia, a Manteca resident and part of the YupUp team headquartered in San Francisco with an office in Modesto.

At the same time, the event is an “ideal” date night or even friends night out based on what is planned and how it is configurated.

The six baseball fields will be filled with activities and such based on age groupings as such.

The fields and their themes include:

*Toddler Town featuring soft play features, bubble show, and such.

*Animal Kingdom with a petting zoo, pony rides, and exotic reptiles handled by Python Ron.

*Game & Chill with video gaming trucks, Gellyball, photo booth, obstacle course and more.

*Kids Kraze with numerous inflatables, face painting, slides, and a rock climbing wall.

*Lounge lawn with a live music, ax throwing, oversized lawn games, and such.

*Food & vendors with food trucks, and booths.

That is just a sampling.

And all activities are included in the admission price except for several items such as pony rides and the gaming trucks that have an additional charge.

Garcia noted there are things for the entire family to enjoy.

That said, if she were single she would view it as an ideal girls night out on the Fourth with activities such as the ax throwing, live music, and beer and food.

“(The city is) thrilled to partner with Francesca and the YupUp team in bringing this Family Fun Fest event to our BLD,”  Mayor Gary Singh said. “I’m looking forward to seeing it grow even more in the future. I encourage everyone in the community to come out, show support, and celebrate Independence Day with us.”

There will also be upwards of 20 costumed characters such as Stitch and Jasmine.

People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

There will be in and out privileges with hand stamps.

That means you can bring an ice chest and pack food and leave it in your car if you don’t want to buy food at the event.

That said no outside drinks or food will be allowed, except for water.

The city’s aerial fireworks show will start at 9:30 p.m. that evening.

The BLD event is in addition to the Sunrise Kiwanis parade on North Main Street at 10 a.m.
