A CHP vehicle was among the entries at one of the previous Emergency Vehicle Display & Law Enforcement Recruitment Fair in Ripon.

The Emergency Vehicle Display & Law Enforcement Recruitment Fair featuring Ripon police, Menlo Park police and the California Highway Patrol Historical Society will take place on Saturday.

The 31st annual event will again be held at the Ripon Community Center, 334 W. Fourth St., from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

According to the Ripon Police Department, this will be a public safety family event show, promoting public safety and featuring emergency vehicles of all types – police, fire, ambulance and military.

There is no charge for spectators.

Each of the public safety vehicles in the show must be 20 years or older and privately owned.

Last year’s event was highlighted by Jeff Orlando of the Santa Clara Fire Department winning Best of Show with his restored 1920 Ford TT fire truck.

A pre-event is scheduled for Friday with a cruise and parade of all or any registered vehicle for the show being escorted by local police, starting from the Ripon Community Center beginning at 6 p.m.

Recruitment booths of public and private agencies along with a swap meet with hobby-related items will also be part of the Saturday festivities.

Saturday will also feature a slow-down Code 3 parade equipped with a display of sirens and lights of all registered vehicles in the event.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Ripon Volunteers and Explorers, the Menlo Park Police Cadet Unit and the CHP Historical Museum.
