The memory of Steve Droullard will once again be honored at East Union High.
Shortly after his passing in 2021, friends and staff of the Manteca Unified school site remembered him with a bench dedication not too far from the EU counseling center. In attendance that day was his daughter and MUSD teacher Kristin Meeks along with her family.
Meeks will once again honor her father on Friday at the annual EU Hall of Fame ceremony, which will begin with a special gathering in the cafeteria prior to the presentation in the Dalben Center.
Droullard along with fellow 2026 inductees Marilyn Lagier, Jessie Reynolds (Hardcastle), JT Hardcastle, Nick Nobriega, Brooke Riley, and Michael Zugnoni will be honored prior to the varsity basketball tipoff between the Lancers and crosstown rival Sierra High.
Meeks will present Droullard posthumously at the earlier event. Droullard was a counselor at the school from 1986 to 2011.
Lagier also started at EU in 1986. She was an educator at the school until her retirement in 2013. Presenting Lagier at induction ceremony will be longtime art instructor Kim Ray.
The other educator being honored is Michael Zugnoni, who worked from 1966 through 2008. He’ll be presented by his son, Bret Zugnoni.
Reynolds, Hardcastle, Nobriga, and Riley – all prominent student athletes for the Lancers – will make up this year’s Alumni class.
Scheduled to present Reynolds and Hardcastle at the special event are Doug McCreath and JT’s father Darrell Hardcastle, respectively.
EU Principal Eric Simoni will serve as emcee at the induction ceremony.
