Four intersections south of 120 Bypass getting traffic signals

The City of Manteca seal as it is today without the original cross atop the rendering that initially was meant to represent a place of worship in “The Family City.”

Four additional intersections south of the 120 Bypass are expected to have operating traffic signals this year.

That includes signals at Atherton Drive and Sparrowhawk Street east of Airport Way that are before the Manteca City Council when they meet Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The signals were required as a condition of approval for the four-story, 122-room Woodsprings Suites hotel now under construction.

The cost of the signals will be paid by developers.

Signals are already installed but not activated at the corner of Atherton Drive and Woodward Avenue.

They are part of the overall Highway 99/120 Bypass Connector Project.

Signals will also be installed at Woodward Avenue at Moffat Bouelvard. The installation of those signals that will be tied into the Atherton/Woodward signals has been delayed due to issues with a buried fuel line.

Work will start this year to install traffic signals at Woodward Avenue and South Main Street.

The fifth intersection to get traffic signals will be Woodward Avenue at Airport Way.
