Free cricket classes; mother-son dance is set for Saturday

 The annual mother-son dance as well as free cricket demonstration classes are among upcoming activities this month being staged by the Manteca Recreation & Community Services division.

The dance is Saturday, March 7, at 6 p.m. at the Manteca Senior Center, 290 Cherry Lane.

The event, with a Mission Impossible theme, is for sons to take mom, grandma, auntie or big sister to accompany them for dancing, music, snacks and photo ops.

Participants are encouraged to dress in their best spy gear — fancy outfits, sunglasses, and smooth style.

The cost is $25 per person and $8 per additional child.

Free cricket demo classes

Free cricket demonstration classes are scheduled for March 23-27 at Doxey Park, 1453 Northgate Drive.

The 30 minute sessions are at 4 p.m. or 4:45 p.m.

Classes are designed for youth ages 7 to 16 and are being staged by the Manteca Cricket Academy.
