Free tutoring benefits from Tip-a-Firefighter at Applebee’s

Manteca firefighters local 1874 IAFF is supporting the Give Every Child a Chance free tutoring program by playing host to the annual Tip-A-Firefighter at Applebee’s Bar & Grill, 1272 E. Yosemite Ave., today from 5 to 9 p.m.

The hometown hero firefighters will be swapping water hoses for aprons by visiting tables to greet guests and collect donations in the form of a firefighter’s boot for tips.

Wines & Words at Museum

The Manteca Historical Museum Wine & Words is Thursday, Feb. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the museum, 600 W. Yosemite Ave.

Featured will be the Perrys, a long-time Manteca agricultural family that operate Perry & Sons, the largest melon distributor on the West Coast. They will share their story. The event is free to members and $10 for a donation.

 

Every 15 Minutes Shrimp Feed

The 18th annual Every 15 Minutes Shrimp Feed is set for Saturday, Feb. 28.

It takes place from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry Lane. The $70 per person ticket includes all you can eat shrimp and pasta. The social starts at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. There also will be a raffle and silent auction. A disc jockey will provide dance music until 11 p.m. The event is for those 21 and older.
