Marie Freitas is the new Manteca Unified board president.

Freitas was elected to that position Tuesday by her fellow trustees.

Cathy Pope-Gotschall will serve as the vice president, and Melanie Greene as treasurer.

Trustees Freitas, Pope-Gotschall and Greene will also serve as Manteca Unified executive committee.

The board also voted for new appointments to committees and commission for the 2022 calendar year.

Trustees Stephen Schluer, Eric Duncan and Pope-Gotschall will serve on the Committee for the Evaluation and Negotiation Process for Superintendent’s Contract.

 The following board trustees will serve as members (and one alternate member) on 2x2 Committees:

*Manteca 2X2 Committee: Trustee Schluer and Trustee Pope-Gotschall (Trustee Howe alternate)

*Lathrop 2X2 Committee: Trustee Howe and Trustee Guerrero (Trustee Freitas alternate)

*Stockton 2X2 Committee: Trustee Duncan and Trustee Schluer (Trustee Howe alternate)

 The following Board Trustees and Manteca Unified Administration will serve as Parks and Recreation Commissions Liaisons:

*Manteca Parks and Recreation Commission: Executive Director Clara Schmiedt (two-year; expires 2022), Director of Operations Aaron Bowers (two-year, expires 2023), and Director of Community Outreach Victoria Brunn (two-year, expires 2023)

*Stockton Parks and Recreation Commission: Trustee Eric Duncan

*Lathrop Parks and Recreation Commission: Trustee Howe Serving as the County School Board Liaison, Board President Marie Freitas.

The school board on Tuesday also accepted a new elementary school principal assignment. Tarsha Taylor-Godfrey named new principal of Joseph Widmer Elementary School in Lathrop.
