Manteca-Ripon-Lathrop could get as hot as 105 degrees by Friday.

*Increased chances of drowning in area rivers due to cold water releases from reservoirs.

*Low humidity and dry vegetation means an increased chance of fires.

The Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry Lane, will serve as the Manteca cooling center for those needing a respite from the heat.

It will be open Friday, May 30, and Saturday, May 31 from 1 to 9 p.m., according to the city’s Facebook post.

The high in Saturday is expected to be 105 degrees,

Overnight temperatures will cool down to the low 60s both days.

The National Weather Service anticipates the high dropping to 93 degrees on Sunday and then 83 degrees to start the work week.
