GREAT WOLF HUNGRY FOR PATRONS, SLASHES RATES
Pandemic bounce back prompts unprecedented offers; resort starts hiring soon for Sept. 1 opening

Guests look into an indoor water park at a Great Wolf Resort.

You can now book a Great Wolf Resort Den Suite theme room with two days access to a 95,000-square-foot indoor water park for two adults and two kids on Tuesday, Sept. 1, for the same price of $159 that you can secure a room with two queen beds at the Manteca Best Western Executive Inn & Suites.

The unprecedented deep discount for the opening day of a new Great Wolf resort comes courtesy of the COVID-19 pandemic and California’s phased reopening that puts resorts and amusements parks at the near end of the strategy to reopen the economy.

As a result there are deep discounts for the 500-room Manteca resort that is almost complete that are available through Feb. 28, 2021. Bookings must be made by June 19 to qualify for special rates.

The Wolf Den Suite that includes a queen bed, an in-suite cave-themed sleeping area as well as a living area with a full-size sofa sleeper typically would cost up to $519.99 to book for the night and two days waterpark access for four people. The Wolf Den Suite, if you book it now for Sept. 1 based on website information posted on Thursday, would save you $360. The $159 price you pay before room taxes is the equivalent of four one-day passes to an open air Raging Waters water park. Booking is done through the greatwolf.com website and by clicking on San Francisco/Manteca for the local resort.

The Wolf Den Suite rate does change — and the discount offer that applies to booking by June 19 — based on the date and day as it applies to historic demands for Great Wolf. For example if the same four people booked the Wolf Den Suite for Christmas Eve by June 19 it would cost $269.99 compared to the regular pricing of $429.99 for Dec. 24. Booking the same suite for New Year’s Eve within the next14 days would cost $359.99. Great Wolf does not usually offer such deep discounts on holiday bookings so far out. It reflects a lot of uncertainty in how quickly recreation and travel related activities will bounce back.

That said based on a recent Great Wolf resort opening in Arizona that took place pre-pandemic as well as several years ago in Anaheim, people will pay top dollar to be among  first guests to use a new water park hence the usual $519

At the same time Great Wolf plans to start hiring later this month and into July for the 500 workers needed for the resort that cost $180 million to build. Employment opportunities can be found at https://greatwolf.com.

In early March Great Wolf was on target to open July 1. But the pandemic threw a wrench into their plans. They then shifted the date to Aug. 1 based on the best guess estimate of how long stay at home orders would be in place.
Now that Governor Newsom has started reopening the state and the pace at which he is doing it at, allowed Great Wolf to have a much more solid footing to plan the opening for Sept. 1.

The resort also includes a 45,000 square-foot indoor adventure park with an array of attractions including a ropes course, miniature golf and arcade, and a number of eateries that range from elevated dining to sweet ice cream treats.

“Anticipation levels have been high for this resort as it marks not only the return of waterslides to Manteca, but a whole new level of immersive family entertainment for the region,” said Murray Hennessy, chief executive officer for Great Wolf Resorts.  “Our new resort will feature the latest and greatest Great Wolf Lodge offerings, so families who may have visited another one of our other resorts will discover several new surprises at this lodge.”

Great Wolf Lodge also recently introduced a company-wide initiative, based on guidance from health authorities and public officials, which focuses on keeping families healthy and safe while they play together at the indoor waterpark resort.  The Paw Pledge program utilizes expertise from medical authorities, sanitation specialists and industrial engineers to develop new, enhanced protocols for disinfection and sanitization, physical distancing, personal protection, and minimizing surface interactions, for all guest areas across the resort.

Included with an overnight stay at Great Wolf Lodge Northern California is unlimited access to the water park along with an extensive daily schedule of resort entertainment and family activities, providing an exceptional value for families. Standard rates start at $199.99 per night if limited discounts aren’t accessed in the next two weeks.  With the opening day set, Great Wolf Lodge is offering a special discount of up to 40% off standard rates for stays through February 28, 2021.  Guests must reserve their suite before June 19 and use promo code OPENING to qualify.
