Justin Saltsman was sworn in Monday as this year’s student board member at the Ripon Unified school board meeting by Superintendent Rusty Clark.

Justin Saltsman is the newest student trustee of the Ripon Unified School District.

The Ripon High junior was administered the oath of office at Monday’s school board meeting by Superintendent Rusty Clark.

He’s the brother of Dillan Saltsman, who was RUSD student board member during the 2022-2023 school year.

Justin Saltsman was influenced to serve on the same post by his older sibling. “I also wanted to make new connections with those at the city level,” he said.

The Saltsman brothers aren’t the only siblings to serve on the local school board. The Waters family had Ruth, Ellie, Dallas, and Lydia do their time as student trustees.

In his new post, Justin Saltsman will be an active participant at the RUSD meetings – his vote will matter on items not personnel related.

His first course of action was voting in favor of the contract between RUSD and Edlio, LLC, which is an additional website for Food & Nutrition Services, Content Migration, Drone Shoot, and Unlimited Study Hall Sessions.

When it comes to the classroom, Saltsman loaded up on AP classes this year.

He’s also active in Leadership along with several clubs on campus and is a member on the Indians basketball team.
