St. Anthony’s Knights of Columbus Council 10693 is staging its 15th annual John Nussbauner Memorial Car Show on Saturday, May 2.
It’s one of several fundraisers the local council of the world’s largest Catholic lay fraternal service organization conducts that empowers Catholic men to live their faith through charity, unity, and patriotism while providing financial support to families, and communities.
The St. Anthony’s Council participates in the Global Wheelchair Mission that provides free, brand-new wheelchairs to people with physical disabilities who lack the means to quire them and regardless of their faith.
Knights of Columbus member Jim Baca shared with Manteca Rotarians recently how every $150 they raise buys new wheelchairs.
The wheelchairs have been presented to people in the Manteca area that need them as well as in other countries.
The car show takes places May 2 at the Manteca Golf Course, 305 N. Union Road, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It is limited to the first 85 entries.
Registration is $30 in advance or $35 after April 14.
Questions can be directed to Tony Oliver at 209-923-7105.
Proceeds will go to Valley CAPS — a non-profit that helps challenged adults lead full lives — as well as various council charities.
The Knights are also staging a golf tournament June 12 to help the Manteca Children’s Foundation to provide 18 to 21 scholarships annually to graduating high school seniors.
The council lead by Grand Knight Gilbert G Maldonado III is also staging the annual priest appreciation dinner on May 31 at 6 p.m. in the St. Anthony’s School Gym.
