The Lathrop-Manteca Fire District confirmed Wednesday that a brush fire near the conclusion of the July 1 City of Lathrop Birthday was the result of embers flying outside the designated area for the aerial fireworks show.

The fire burned about two to the three acres in an open field northeast of Spartan Way.

There were no reports of injuries nor damages to any structures or cars, according to Lathrop Fire.

A large gathering at the Lathrop Generations Center and Leland & Jane Stanford Park was there for the fireworks grand finale celebrating the 36th anniversary of the incorporation of Lathrop as a city when the brush fire occurred at around 9:45 p.m.

Prior to that, residents and guests took part in various events, including the annual walking parade, live music, food trucks, vendors, and carnival games.
