The San Joaquin County Office of Education conducts a Winter Art Card Contest each year.
The event is a favorite holiday tradition for SJCOE and involves students from throughout the county.
Their work is featured in the SJCOE Outlook magazine.
The work of two students from Lathrop High stood out in this year’s competition, with Sophia Contreras being awarded first place with her snow bunny can be found on the front page of the publication.
Ayanna Vasquez was runner-up in the event. Her work featuring snow angels is located in the back of Outlook magazine.
Another local young artist was Leia Orozco of Ripon High.
Other students to have their work recognized in Outlook included Stephanie Kuang of Middle College High (Lodi Unified), Aadya Tadi of Corral Hollow Elementary School, Jasime Warren of Williams Middle School (Tracy Unified), Isaac Aguayo of Dent Elementary (Escalon Unified), Brisbana Gomez of Banta Elementary (Banta Unified), and Jayden Smith of Victory Elementary (Stockton Unified).
