It was a busy Independence Day in Lathrop.
The City of Lathrop Police Department, partnering with the Lathrop-Manteca Fire Department, responded to a high volume of emergency responses on Friday.
This included nearly 50 fireworks-related calls, 10 brush fires, and a pair of house fires.
“And we safely reunited a lost 3-year-old who had wandered away from a party and was walking on a busy street,” police said via social media.
Police, who also issued multiple citations for use and possession of illegal fireworks, thanked the Lathrop-Manteca firefighters for working “alongside us throughout the night extinguishing fires and confiscating illegal fireworks.”
In addition, police reminded folks that illegal fireworks are prohibited under the Lathrop Municipal Code.
Enforcement efforts are ongoing with police pointing out that continued use could put both lives and property at risk.
They were especially grateful to report that no injuries were reported on this busy day.
