The rank of police corporal is new to the City of Lathrop Police Department.
Earlier this week, Justin Sangster, who is one of four corporals on the local police force – the others are officers Nathanael Novello, Daniel Beringer, and Carlos Gonzalez – was awarded the California Highway Patrol “10851” pin for recovering eight stolen vehicles, of which six resulted in arrests.
The position of corporal is essential part of the Lathrop police team as that it provides leadership and support to patrol officers.
“When a sergeant is unavailable, corporals step in to supervise, manage shifts, oversee investigations, and help train new officers. They play a key role in ensuring our community remains safe, informed, and well-supported,” said local police via social media on Wednesday.
The position, police added, will help in strengthening the structure within the department while offering officers a clear path for career advancement.
“Developing our staff is one of our top priorities, and this position is a significant step in that direction,” said police. “It ensures we have skilled and qualified officers ready to take on leadership roles when needed.
“We’re proud to have a dedicated team of corporals who are ready to lead by example, manage daily operations, and support the department in critical situations.”
