A Lathrop resident got his stolen bike thanks to a traffic stop.
According to the Lathrop Police Department, the incident first occurred on Dec. 15 after the victim reported the bicycle taken in front of a local business.
After reviewing surveillance footage coupled with a follow-up investigation, police were able to identify the suspect – officers determined him to be a local resident who not only had an outstanding warrant but was on parole with the California Department of Corrections.
Last Tuesday, police conducted a traffic stop on the suspect, locating the stolen bicycle inside the vehicle.
A subsequent parole search of the suspect’s residence led to the discovery of additional contraband including illegal narcotics.
The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on multiple charges.
Police happily returned the bike to its rightful owner, who was grateful for their efforts.
