The Lathrop Police Department is looking to launch its first-ever Explorers program.

This is an opportunity for young residents, ages 14 through 21, to step into the world of law enforcement.

They’ll have a chance to build leadership skills while making a difference in the community, according to local police.

Explorer programs have long been established in the neighboring communities of Manteca and Ripon.

Such programs aim to offer training in law enforcement basics along with providing support in various community events and opening doors for possible careers in the field.

Lathrop police, meanwhile, will be hosting a recruitment booth at Dell’ Osso Farm on Friday, Oct. 24, through Sunday, Oct. 26, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A recruitment booth will be there, accepting Explorer interest cards for the upcoming program year at the Dell’ Osso Family Farm Fall Festival.

“This is your chance to step into the world of law enforcement, build leadership skills, and make a difference in your community,” said Lathrop police, who will be at the fall festival to provide information and answer questions.
