There’s a new place for breakfast in downtown Manteca.
The American Legion Post 249 is now open for a full breakfast, hot coffee, and “friendly conversations” on Tuesdays from 8 to 11 a.m.
It takes place in the newly renovated post hall at 220 East Yosemite Ave.
The cost is $10 while Legion members are $7.

The post has sold 88 bricks so far at $200 each to be placed in the outdoor entrance plaza to the hall in a bid to raise funds for ongoing maintenance of the hall.
Each brick has three lines with each line having up to 15 characters.
Bricks do not have to honor specific veterans. They could, for example, carry a company’s name with a message thanking veterans.
Brick sales are at about the halfway mark.

The Legion is also once again renting the hall out.
Over the years, it has been a popular venue for smaller wedding receptions and parties.
The building was constructed in 1926 by the Mikesell family and officially donated to the Legion in 1929. For years, it was one of the prime venues in Manteca for renting space for wedding receptions and such.
Renovations included a new commercial kitchen, ADA complaint bathrooms, and other modern touches.
The Legion post has 150 members.
The post is actively seeking new members.
Membership is $40 a year
