Veterans needing a ride have a place to call for help.

In April 2021 Clinton McCausland American Legion Post 190 in Ripon,  created the ‘Veterans Emergency Assistance Program’ aimed at helping veterans in San Joaquin County with a service to meet transportation needs.

The goal is to fill the home to Veterans Administration medical center bus gap, as well as other activities such as doctor appointments, shopping, recreation, and such.

The program also has a voucher element to provide emergency funds for, but not necessarily limited to: temporary housing; food; medications; utilities; and quality of life issues.

It requires an application for assistance, and must meet the defined criteria).

Finally, in July 2022, Post 190 initiated van service for veterans and their families residing in San Joaquin County.

Contact Post 190 for information regarding pre-scheduling of rides, dates and times available for transportation needs.
