The Democratic Party Club of Manteca is organizing a local protest on the third No Kings National Day of Non-Violent Action on Saturday, March 28.
The protest will occur at the intersection of Spreckels and Yosemite in Manteca from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on March 28.
“We are coming together to push back against President Trump’s violent, authoritarian actions and reckless disregard for the U.S. Constitution,” said Don Claus, President of the Democratic Club of Manteca and Executive Board Member of the San Joaquin County Democratic Central Committee.
“Our intent is to bring together residents from all walks of life and backgrounds who share a belief: We don’t do dictators or kings in America. We believe in the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights.”
There were 700 attendees last year.
Claus indicated they are aiming for 2,000 attendees this year at the Manteca protest.
“With a planned attendance this large, communication is critical.” said John Hawk, Assistant Event Coordinator from Manteca Indivisible. “We need organizers, safety volunteers, and helpers of all types.”
Attendees are encouraged to sign up at Mobilize.us using the “Nk3” filter to find the event, or go directly to https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/902095/
“This is not a partisan event,” said Dolly Barajas of T-Wreckers (aka Defend Democracy Weekly), the protest group appearing near Costco every Sunday at 1 p.m. “We have Republicans and Independents who protest with us that agree that arrest without warrant, detention and deportation without due process threatens all of our rights.” .
There are expected to be more than 1,000 local No Kings Day protests nationwide.
“Like all veterans who swore an oath to uphold the Constitution, John and I encourage other veterans to step forward and be counted.” said Claus. “We need all generations, young and old, to participate in standing up for their rights. All are welcome.”
