Manteca Interfaith Community Appeal is inviting the community on Thursday, Aug. 21, to attend “an Evening of Respect,” beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The 9th annual program will be hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, at 6060 Northland Road, Manteca in the relief society room.
The evening's theme is mental health, particularly in teens and young adults, covering topics such as anxiety, depression, and social media challenges.
Guest speakers will include Josiah Doman, Doctor of Psychology (Psy. D.); MICA member John Parker; Anthone Jackson, LMFT, Director of School Partnerships; Samantha Laffie, MICA member. Our speakers will focus on a spiritually-inspired approach to our mental health crisis.
Organizers note “we are all affected by the discord and chaos in our families, communities, and the entire world, but we are not without guidance and wisdom to assist us. We will look at scripture, psychology, and the Surgeon General of the United States, who has shared what he believes is the #1 remedy for healing our mental health crisis.:
Guest speakers will discuss their experiences helping people in crisis.
MICA is a local Manteca interfaith community, which “endeavors to bring together people of various faiths, beliefs, and traditions around common goals of service, education, and peace for all people.”
They achieve this by “acting with respect, appreciating diversity, and responding in solidarity to those most in need, while promoting these values in the community from generation to generation, one activity at a time.”
All are welcome, as public support is vital to this effort of bringing good-hearted people together. Light refreshments will follow the program.
