Hot Dog on a Stick.
It was the mainstay of shopping malls in the 1980s where the staff wore bright uniforms with multi-colored yellow, white, red, and blue stripped caps that some described as upside down pails.
At any rate, Manteca now has its own location where you can get what is basically a corn dog, cheese on a stick, hand-stomped lemonade, French fries in a drink cup, and funnel cake sticks among other options.
It’s one of the two new food options at the Great Wolf Lodge that you can access without checking into the resort.
The iconic Hot Dog on a Stick brand got its start in 1949 at Muscle Beach next to the Santa Monica Pier.
They now have less than 40 locations in the United States, mostly in regional malls. The closest to Manteca is at Vintage Faire Mall in Modesto.
The other new venue is Pretzel Bites.
They offer everything from fresh based pretzel bites to breakfast sandwiches served on pretzel roles.
That is in addition to other dining venues including the flagship Barnwood restaurant with offerings reflecting fresh local ingredients that change throughout the year.
Loma Brewing Co. eyes
an October opening
Loma Brewing Co. — the boutique brewery established in Los Gatos by Red Sox baseball legend Kevin Youkilis — is zeroing in on an October opening date.
The location adjacent to Manteca’s Big League Dreams sports complex hit a snag in obtaining some of the equipment needed in the brewing process effectively nixing a summer opening.
An October opening might be more apropos as it can capitalize on baseball’s World Series or what has emerged as a major adult fun day, Halloween.
The Manteca location while provide a 300 percent increase in production capacity for Loma Brewing.
That’s thanks to a 10,000 square foot production facility.
It is being paired with a 2,500 square-foot tap room along with patio seating and accompanying games in the genre of corn hole and ping pong.
