Three clerks sold alcohol to underage customers during a minor decoy operation on Tuesday.

Manteca Police officers, Manteca Cadets, and an ABC Agent participated in the operations conducted at 18 off-sale licenses throughout the city.

Off-sale licenses are establishments that sell alcohol that cannot be consumed on premises such as convenience stores and liquor stores.

During the operation, three clerks furnished alcohol to the decoy by completing the sale.

Manteca Police said licensed establishments need to ensure they are not furnishing alcohol to underage people by checking identification to ensure the purchaser can lawfully purchase that alcoholic beverage.

The Manteca Police Department embarks on such operations in cooperation with a grant agreement between the department and the California Department of Alcoholic Beverages.

The goal is to stop underage people from having access to or being furnished with alcoholic beverages..

The Manteca Police Department asks you to report any activities of underage people consuming, possessing, or being furnished alcoholic beverages by calling Manteca Police Department at 209.456.8101.
